Dear Dexter Township Residents,
As a reminder, the entrance to Silver Lake Day Use Area from Dexter Townhall Road is currently closed due to a paving project scheduled through July 30, 2025. During this time, all traffic (vehicle, bicycle, pedestrian, etc.) is restricted from entering at that point.
To continue enjoying the trails and amenities at Silver Lake, visitors are encouraged to use the following alternative access points with ample parking:
• Halfmoon Lake Day Use Area (8725 Hankard Rd., Gregory, MI) – Halfmoon Lake Day Use Area should also be used for hikers and bikers to access Blind Lake Campground during this time
• Pickerel Lake Access Site
• Other nearby designated DNR parking areas surrounding the park
To ensure a safe and smooth experience for all visitors, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office will be increasing patrols in the area. We kindly ask that all park-goers use designated lots and help keep roadways clear for emergency and construction access.
Trails remain open and accessible via the alternate parking locations listed above. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as this important project is completed! For additional questions please reach out the Pinckney State Recreation Area at 734-426-4913, DNR-ParksandRecreation@Michigan.gov, or visit their website.
